Those days are long gone when we could frown upon the quality of the Chinese watches. Among the new players in the Chinese watch industry, Benyar is a prominent name. The brand itself fairly new. They started their journey in 2012. And, they’ve managed to become quite popular within just eight years.

Well, aggressive pricing policy has always been a common trait for Chinese products. This statement is true for every single Chinese industry. Very few countries can compete against China’s manufacturing prowess because of this low-cost trait.

That’s being said, you must be eager to know about the quality of the Benyar watches. Certainly, none is expecting them to compete against Rolex or Patek Phillip. But can Benyar watches be in the same category as Seiko of Citizen?

If these watches can even come close to the Japanese counterparts, we’d congratulate them. After all, even the most expensive watch from Benyar costs only about 60-ish dollars!

BENYAR BY5121 Automatic Skeleton Watch – Overall Best

BENYAR BY5121 Automatic Skeleton Watch holds the crown for being the best watch from the brand. This watch comes with all the great features that we seek in a watch.

First of all, Benyar BY5121 is an automatic watch that features a skeleton dial. These two traits are good enough to grab our eyes and ears!

Benyar used the G3265Z automatic movement in this watch. It’s a very common Chinese automatic movement that you can see in many other watches like Pagani Design. It’s offers somewhat average accuracy, gaining about 17 seconds per day.

But who manufactures the G3265Z movement?

That credit goes to PTS Resources, a Chinese movement manufacturer from Liaocheng, China.

The case is made of stainless steel and you’ll find genuine leather in the strap. I was very skeptical at first thinking of getting faux leather instead of a genuine one.

But Benyar surprised me!

It’s quite stiff and rigid but at least not artificial.

Considering the price tag, I can overlook these small issues. A great buy if you’re on a tight budget and looking for a good-looking watch.

BENYAR BY-5104M Quartz Chronograph – The Runner-Up

At this price point, I’d suggest you stick to a quartz watch. While having an automatic watch gives a sense of pride, I think investing more money would be better option.

And, if you already agree with me and favor a quartz watch at this price, BENYAR BY-5104M Quartz Chronograph is one of best offerings from Benyar. It’s very exciting to see a fully functional chronograph in this price category.

I’m not sure which caliber Benyar used in this chronograph watch. But I think it’s either from Seiko or a Seiko copycat. Benyar idolizes Seiko in many ways. For example, about 90% of the Benyar watches have Hardlex crystals, a signature invention of Seiko.

The best part of BENYAR BY-5104M is the sporty looks and impeccable pricing. I think Benyar has made some smart decisions regarding the pricing policy. I wouldn’t mind their small mistakes as the price doesn’t bother at all.

In many ways, BENYAR BY-5140M-L Classic is very close to the previous watch, BENYAR BY-5104M. They both are quartz watches with fully functional chronograph features.

A lot of Chinese watches include the chronograph only for the show! I think it’s one of the small factors that make Benyar different from another kiosk-only Chinese watch brand.

BENYAR BY-5140M-L follows some of the classic chronograph design features in it. For example, the leather color complements the midnight blue perfectly, and we’ve seen numerous watches using this combination.

The tachymeter bezel, on top of the chronograph dial enhances the looks of the watch even further.

Overall, it’s a great option without any major issues.

However, there are some minor upgrades too. For example, the 24-hour display has a sun/moon style display too. Well, more precisely, it has the moon display only. The dial looks quite clean and polished too.  

BENYAR BY5160 doesn’t feel cheap in any way. However, Benyar officially has stopped the production so you might have a hard time finding this masterpiece.

Is Benyar a Good Brand?

Not exactly!

Benyar is a Chinese watch brand that started only in 2012. Despite the popularity and meteoric rise, very few people know about this brand. So, if you are looking for brand strength and brand value, Benyar can’t offer you that.

However, Benyar is quite different than the typical grey market Chinese watch brands. In most cases, Benyar lets us know about the caliber that they used in the watches. Also, they use genuine leather and stainless steel for manufacturing.

For a cheap Chinese watch, these things are quite rare.

What Did We Like About Benyar?

Benyar grabs attention with the jaw-dropping pricing policy. In most cases, cheap watches reek of bad finish and poor build quality.

Benyar is different. These watches are very well-made and come with fairly decent choice of materials.

Finally, I must give credit to Benyar for not using cheap tricks that many cheap watchmakers use. They omit non-functional chronograph subdial for the sake of showcasing.

All features are fully functional.

Like I said earlier, considering the price, there’s very little to no room for complaining against the Benyar watches.

What Didn’t We Like About Benyar?

In one word – the water-resistance issue!

The biggest negative trait of these watches is the poor water resistance performance. They use the 30ATM resistance label but these watches die out even after getting light water splashes.

If you wear your watch during a rainfall, you might just kill your Benyar watch!
